Tips and Trends Tuesday: AC thrift store finds

A few weeks ago..I posted my fav party decor tip..thirft store shopping.  Here is the post. As promised, I wanted to post some of my thrift store finds and how I used them in my parties!

Country salt and pepper shakers for a farm party!

Found these shell vases that I used for an "under the sea" party.  They were a silver, but I spray painted them white!

These are actually Martha Stewart drink stirs.  But they count since I found them at a Goodwill!!

The skeleton fits nicely..don't ya think!

Found this little deer figurine that added an adorable accent to a "woodland" baby shower!

Look closely and the small lego table that I used for a stand I got at a garage sale!

I found this candlestick holder at a Goodwill.  It was black, but I spray painted it white and added white round discs to the top and it maked the perfect cupcake stand!  Looks like the cupcakes are dancing..don't ya think!

This is a combo of a cheap candlestick with an old plate.  Super glue and spray paint..wallaha!

These drink labels are from a vintage "Madeline" book I found at a Goodwill for.69!

Candlesticks again with pickle jars..I got this idea from pinterest, but it was not hard to find these pieces at a thrift store.

Candlestick again!

This pig planter made the perfect utencil holder at a farm party!

Tips and Trends Tuesday: Party Hats

When I am brainstorming a party, hats are usually one of the first thing that pops into my head.  I love hats and so do the kiddos!  There is nothing cuter than watching a bunch of 3 year old little boys running around the house with fireman hats at a fireman birthday party! I could go on.  But what if a hat does not fit into the theme?  Do you forgo the head accessory? NO!  Check out these custom hats I found on etsy.  I bet these shop owners can whip up a fabulous hat for any occassion.

Tips and Trends Tuesday: Thirft Store Finds

I get asked quite often what is my best party tip.  Here it is...thrift stores,  Yes, I said thrift stores.  Not craft stores or party stores, but the good ol' Goodwills!!

You can find come amazing items to add to your party decor.  I got on goodwill.com (it's like ebay, but for Goodwill) and did a quick search of items.  Here is what I found in like 2 minutes.

Most of these items were around $5.00 bidding.

Tips and Trends Tuesday: Candlestick Puffs

Excuse my lack of blogging last week.  With a baby shower, a wedding and 3 last minute etsy orders, the poor blog had to take a back seat.

I have been working on designing a "cute as a button" baby shower and have been stumped the centerpieces.  My client was pretty specific and wanted a "clean and simple" piece.  She also had very specific colors: yellow, sea green and pink.  The pink and yellow are a no brainer, but the sea green was a bit tough. Until I found the PERFECT tissue paper the exact color.  Now I had to rack my brain about how to use the tissue paper in the centerpiece.  This is what I came up with!  I'm not sure what to call them...I decided on "Candlestick Puffs", but if anyone has a better name..let me know!!

I did not have time to do a tutorial with pictures, but they are pretty self explanatory.  If you know how to make a tissue paper puff, (see a great tutorial here), create a stem underneath and stick it in a painted candlestick holder.  I put some glue in the candlestick to help reinforce.

These are so much fun and definitely be doing them again.  As you can see from the last picture, my daughter took them over and created many "displays" with them.  Wonder where she gets that from? They are now all over her room.  I guess they can come down when I need the candlesticks back!!!

Happy Celebrating!
